Why do people try to make you feel guilty?

Many people seem to assume that not eating bread and rice is not good for you. Anyway, my mom spent the bank holiday with me and I went ahead with my normal routine of low carb meals and snacks for the day. Her comments on what I was eating was needless to say, disheartening. Her argument was that you will crave those things more if you cut it out.

Now she had a point but for me, low/good carbing works for me because I get bloated eating things like bread, pasta and rice especially for dinner and I see a remarkably big difference in my weigh ins. I tend to crave/binge on chocolate and alcohol, not necessarily rice and bread. So somewhere in my mind I convinced myself yes I am depriving myself and should be eating some rice for my dinner, needless to say the eating spiralled out of control as I went and had bread and ice-cream with some rum liquer.

I´m not put off as I had 2 days of this and now I have drawn that line and back at it. Need to make a list of things I need to pick up in the grocery. Race day is also drawing near so going to up my exercise for the next 2 weeks.
